  • Buy tickets to Manaus. Manaus is the capital city of the Amazon region in Brazil and an amazing starting point for your adventure.

  • Our participants will travel to Manaus, Brazil, from various states. However, our team members depart from major airports, including IAD (Washington), Newark, New York, and Miami.

  • Flight Details: Please send us your flight information so we can greet you at the airport.

  • If the trip is canceled on or before April 15, a non-refundable fee of $200 will apply. Cancellations made after April 15 will incur a non-refundable fee of $400.

Thursday, June 12: Traveling to Manaus

Let the adventure begin! Most of you will start your journey on Thursday, June 12, and arrive in Manaus, Brazil, on Friday, June 13,. Arrival times will vary, with some flights landing between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., while others may arrive later in the morning or afternoon. No matter your arrival time, our team will be at the airport to welcome you. Feel free to book your ticket for any convenient time to arrive in Manaus on July 18.

Who is organizing this mission trip?

Centro Urbano, a registered Brazilian non-profit, is leading the mission trip to the Amazon in collaboration with My City My Passion (MCMP). Together, we have over 10 years of experience organizing impactful mission trips.

What activities and projects will we be involved in?

Participants will engage in outreach activities, including visits to orphanages, light construction work, food distribution, and organizing children’s activities. We’ll also host sports, arts, crafts, music sessions, and teach English. Additionally, we’ll explore Manaus and its tourist attractions. Watch the video on the homepage for more details.

When are we departing and returning?

We arrive in Brazil on July 18, 2025. Depending on your location, departure will be on July 17 to ensure timely arrival. Return flights can be booked for July 27 or 28.

Which airport will we depart from?

Participants will depart from major airports, including IAD (Washington), Newark, New York, and Miami, before flying to Manaus.

What are Brazil’s entry requirements?

U.S. and Canadian citizens need a visa. The Brazilian visa costs $160. You can apply via the provided link, or we can process your visa for a $89 service fee (plus $160 visa cost).

What type of accommodations will be provided?

  • Hotel (5 nights in Manaus): Comfortable rooms
    • accommodating up to four guests.
    • Single Room: $200 additional.
    • Double Room: $100 additional. 
  • Boat (4 nights on the Amazon River): Hammocks provided; feel free to bring an air mattress.

Can my minor child participate?

We encourage parents to bring their children on this meaningful trip. If a minor is traveling without parents, a notarized letter from both parents is required.

What language is spoken in Brazil?

Portuguese is the official language. English is limited outside tourist areas, but Brazilian team members will assist with translation.

Do I need vaccinations?

Please consult your doctor about recommended vaccinations for Amazonia.

Is Wi-Fi available?

Wi-Fi is available at the hotel but not in the Amazon Rainforest.

Will my phone work in Brazil?

Check with your phone carrier to inquire about international plans.

How safe is the Mission Trip?

Your safety is our top priority. We’ll provide clear site boundaries and local supervision 24/7 for extra support. Minors will be accompanied by adults throughout the trip.

 

What’s the alcohol and drug policy?

The use or possession of alcohol and illicit drugs is strictly prohibited. Any violation will result in immediate removal from the trip.

What medicines should I bring?

Bring necessary prescription medications, antidiarrheal, indigestion medicine, and a small first aid kit.

What should I pack for the trip?

  • Clothes: Modest attire for church, lightweight shirts, long pants, hat
  • Bible (digital or print)
  • Sneakers, snacks, sunscreen
  • First aid kit, mosquito repellent, hand sanitizer
  • Flashlight, swimsuit, towel, deodorant

What should I know about food and dietary options during the trip?

Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals will be provided. If you have dietary restrictions or specific needs (e.g., diabetes), please bring the necessary items (such as sugar) with you.

Electrical outlets and voltage in Brazil?

Manaus uses 127V/60Hz power with Type N or Type C plugs. Bring a voltage converter if needed.

Is there a checklist of items I should pack for the trip?

In July, Manaus experiences warm temperatures, with average highs around 31°C (88°F) and lows near 23°C (73°F).

5 Months Before:

  • Apply for a passport, if needed.
  • Apply for a Visa – (check visa information here: www.amazontravel.org/visa-brazil)
  • Consult with your doctor regarding vaccinations. 

1 Month before:

  • Confirm passport, visa, vaccinations, and insurance.
  • Obtain parental authorization (for minors).

1 Week before:

  • Pack your luggage.

On Departure Day:

  • Bring your passport, visa, airline ticket, luggage, money, and parental authorization (if traveling with a minor).
